It
is an ordinary day for Dr. Jordan Hartman until he receives an urgent call from
his wife, Esther Hartman, asking for help. “Please come home right away! Saul
is in trouble,” Esther Hartman pleads. Her voice
is trembles desperately, “I cannot
deal with this on my own.”
PART TWO
Esther
and the King of Persia
Esther turns the pages of the book, Esther Queen of Persia;
and in a reverie,
she
imagines herself
as
a young woman garbed
in exotic dress among a group of beautiful virgins coming from all over
the
Persian Empire, seeking Xerxes the Great’s attention.
She
envisions the King’s face as if it were Dr.
Parsi’s with a thick
black
beard.
PART THREE
The Trial
Esther approaches Ruth and whispers, “No. I cannot face the man
who might had killed my son.” She remembers a bottle full of
opiate painkillers in her house and murmurs, “I’m
afraid somebody will put those pills to
improper use.”
